Telecom Geek Exchange Tour 2009

November 21, 2009

Let me just start by saying what an amazing and impressive tour it was, so much knowledge, so much cool tech stuff, so a big thankyou to Telecom Wholesale, Chorus and Jay Best for organizing the whole thing!
Anyway for now there’s just photo’s, I’ll go back later and add some tags or comments about them when I’m not so lazy but for now I just wanted to get them online so a few close friends / family could see. Talk about a TON of cables huh?!
Pix below the break

  1. You are so cute. Taking pics of boxes and cables. I know they are all very important bits and pieces. Well done.

    • Yeah kind of funny, most people would take pictures of their wife, kids, but I take photos of big green boxes as well 😉

  2. Um i would forget pictures of the wife and kids. Green boxes are more interesting

  3. Bit late to comment. But great photos. I was in the team that installed the MAB 3 NEAX back in the eighties. It was one of my first jobs as a new senior tech before I got the job in charge of the new Avondale 61E installation. We had fun and games on the Mt Albert job and the things we got up to before the days of ‘anal’ ‘who’s looking over my shoulder and what we are doing started. I remember manually doing a exchange ‘reboot’ not following the book (but we knew it would get the thing running quicker) on the busy Ellerslie exchange after an upgrade went a little pear-shaped and explaining that to the chaps in the Remuera office! Happy days and lots of fun times. Thanks for the memories! Andy Turner

    • That’s funny! Would love to have been a fly on the wall during that conversation 😀

      • Oh most of them had no real world experience with the then quite new technology, so if we told them the mouse had stopped turning the wheels they would have been happy…
